Many individuals diagnosed with autism or other social communication conditions face challenges in social settings — from starting conversations to forming and maintaining friendships.

At North Shore Behavior Consulting, our Social Skills Program celebrates neurodiversity and focuses on learning through structured, interactive lessons, individualized goals and teaching methods, and motivating individuals to achieve those goals.

An initial intake session is completed prior to creating cohorts to ensure members of each cohort are an appropriate fit as social partners.

Our Approach
We blend behavior skills training, incidental teaching, and positive reinforcement to help each individual connect and communicate. Sessions are engaging, multimodal, goal and data driven, and most importantly, fun!

Initial Criteria for 2026 Enrollment

Behavioral Expectation
Participants are expected to engage safely and appropriately in a group setting. Individuals must not have exhibited aggression or significant behavioral outbursts within the past year, as the safety and well-being of all participants is our top priority.
Program Structure
Groups for children, adolescents, and adults are organized by age, with typically 5–10 participants per group. Each program runs weekly for 10 weeks and is led by a Licensed Behavior Analyst, under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Behavior Analyst, with additional support staff to ensure individualized attention and meaningful progress.

Verbal Abilities
Average or above vocabularies, including the ability to communicate in full sentences and engage in basic brief conversations with others, as this is a verbally oriented program.

Diagnosis

Children likely will have a diagnosis of autism or exhibit clinically significant social communication difficulties. Currently, this group is not appropriate for individuals whose sole diagnosis is AD/HD.
Individualization
The first session serves as an intake to determine the best fit for the upcoming group and to identify the individual’s specific goals and challenges. During this session, information is gathered from both the participant and their family member to help tailor the program to their needs.
